Eligibility requirements for Competent Authority assessment
This questionnaire can help you assess whether you qualify for consideration under the Competent Authority Model.
If you meet the requirements under the Competent Authority Model pathway you may be considered by the AMC for the granting of advanced standing.
The following bodies and the listed examinations/accreditation processes have been endorsed by the AMC as Competent Authorities for the purposes of awarding advanced standing towards the AMC Certificate.
Persons holding the qualifications listed are not recommended by the AMC for general unconditional registration, but are required to complete an accredited workplace-based performance assessment as pre-requisite for the awarding of the AMC Certificate and subsequent registration by the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria.

Transition Option - with 12 months or more registration
You may be eligible to proceed under the Competent Authority model and apply for advance standing with the AMC and to the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria for an assessment of your workplace-based supervision report and consideration of general registration status.
You will need to demonstrate that you have completed 12 months or more clinical work under supervision in Victoria and that there are no adverse supervision reports resulting in additional conditions relating to conduct, performance or impairment. The Board may also require you to complete a final supervision report as part of this assessment.

Transition Option - with less than 12 months registration
You may be eligible for advanced standing with the Australian Medical Council. On receipt of advanced standing through your employer and completion of your 12 months registration you can apply to the Medical Board of Victoria for specific registration using the application for available at under the Medical Registration section of the website.
